Today Samuel started coming out of his shell a little more and was laughing so easily. He has the cutest little laugh. He loves to snuggle so much and when we hold him, he leans into us almost like he is trying to get as close as he can to us. He is such a sweet baby boy.
At breakfast this morning, Samuel and Mercy were sitting in highchairs next to each other. At one point Mercy was talking to me while holding her banana bread, and Samuel leaned over and ate it right out of her hand. It was really funny to everyone but her. I think she is feeling the pinch of sharing the attention that has been only hers for the past year.
Today we did some site seeing in Tianjin and purchased some special keepsakes for Samuel that we will give him each year to celebrate the day we met him. Tianjin is the 6th largest city in China , and near Beijing . Our guide said that there are more cars in Tianjin than in Beijing . But bicycles still seem to be the main form of transportation. We have seen many parking lots that are just for bikes, and you pay a fee to park your bike there. We saw a really heated argument between a bike parking lot attendant and a driver of a car, as he tried to park in the bike parking area. The car owner ended up with a nice dent in the side of his car when the attendant took one of his metal cones and hit the side of his car.
We are leaving tomorrow to spend a few days touring Beijing while we wait for Samuel’s paperwork to be processed. We are taking a high speed train that takes 36 minutes, but when we traveled this route by van, it took us over 2 hours. We leave Beijing on Sunday, travel to Kunming and meet our son Benjamin on Monday, the 29th. We are enjoying our time with Samuel and getting to know him better, but we are really looking forward to having Benjamin with us also.

Oh, Carol: he is simply too cute for words!!! And to see him cuddle like that: absolutely priceless!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new son! Can't wait to see Benjamin too!
I remember that moment in your Nanjing hotel room a little bit over a year ago when you said that you were thinking about maybe adopting a boy... Well, well, well: look at you now! :o)))
Oh, and Mercy is GORGEOUS!!! Wow, she's grown so much!
Oh Samuel is adorable! Gotta love a little breakfast puke in a van!! :-)
